Ha Long Bay Vietnam, The North

From the history of its name to the floating fishing villages, you will find rich Vietnamese culture and pride in Ha Long Bay. This historic bay is named after the Vietnamese legend of the “descending dragon” and its children, who spit out large Jade pieces into the sea, from which rose the limestone mountains and inlets, forming a wall between the sea and the land, to protect the people from invaders.

Today, many visitors enjoy the inlets and cave formations via boats and tours. The islets are ethereal and serve as natural monuments so gorgeous and unique that they have been officially protected by UNESCO since 1994.

There are a lot of different outdoor activities to do while in Ha Long Bay. You can hike in Cat Ba National Park, take a boat and explore the many caves or relax on any of the beaches. Many people spend about 1 day here via a boat tour. On a one-day trip, you can expect to see the sprawling magnificence of emerald waters and inlets, vast caves, and exotic wildlife – like monkeys!
