The town of Semporna doesn’t offer too much in the way of entertainment, but it’s a great jumping-off point to visit the surrounding islands. One of the most popular islands is Pom Pom island. Between the months of May and August, visitors can witness baby sea turtles hatching and making their way to the sea. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget and one that makes everyone remember just how beautiful the world is. If you’re a diver, book your accommodations through one of the many dive companies in the area. That’s generally the easiest way to ensure you’re getting transportation to where you need it and making it to your dive spots in time. Remember to book your dive excursions early; permits are limited due to conservation efforts in the area and they fill up fast. The good thing is, even if you can’t get a permit for every day in this area, great diving options are never far away in Malaysia!
