The beautiful, eclectic, city of Windhoek has captured the hearts of Namibia tourists for years. The distinctly German heritage of the city began in 1890 when the area was claimed by the German government and slowly developed into the bustling hub it is today, but the long history of this arid area began centuries before. Known by the surrounding tribes for its hot water springs, the area had been settled by the Khoekhoe and Herero people for centuries.

Today, Windhoek is the main commercial capital for Namibia and has transformed away from its colonial past to what is now a vibrant mosaic of culture, modernity, and unique heritage.
