Most people live in the main city on the island, Kuah, and the rest of the island is scattered with small farming villages, majestic forests, mountains, and more. It’s not a scuba-diver’s paradise like many other islands, but it’s a paradise nonetheless.

Walk the Sky Bridge 700m above Langkawi

Without a doubt, the 125m long and 700m high Sky Bridge is the most famous of Langkawi's highlights. Accessible by cable car, the curved bridge offers fantastic views over the island and the sea it surrounds.

Snorkel in Pulau Payar Marine Park

Just a few kilometers south of the main island of Langkawi, you find Pulau Payar Marine Park. Join one of the organized tours for a snorkel or diving trip to see the colorful corals up close. Unfortunately, these waters are known to have limited visibilities more often than not, so snorkeling would probably be the better option unless the locals promise you otherwise.

Dip into the waters of Telaga Tujuh

In reality, the Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls are not one but seven waterfalls, each connected by a natural pool to the next one further down the chain. A 45-minute long hike up the hill rewards not only with a nice view but also with magnificent hornbills as well as a few macaques, suspiciously eying the few visitors who make the climb. Bring your swimsuit for a cool refreshing dive into one of the pools!

Mingle with mangroves in Kilim Geoforest Park

Go on a boat trip and explore the dense and mighty mangrove forests in Kilim Geoforest Park. Have an eye out for the local wildlife like eagles, macaques, bats, and, with a bit of luck, even dolphins! To boost their business, some tour providers feed the eagles, thus guaranteeing a few good photo opportunities for their clients. If you want to help protect the birds, only book with a provider that does not interfere with these majestic animals.

Don't miss out on Langkawis fabulous beaches

  • Pantai Cenang, situated close to the airport, this beach is often the first stop on a visit to Langkawi. This is the busiest beach on the island with many shops, restaurants, hotels, and water sport activities.
  • Pantai Tengah is best described as an extension to Pantai Cenang since hotels, restaurants, and nightlife are plentiful as well. It is also the longest beach on the island.
  • Tanjung Rhu might be the opposite of Pantai Cenang, due to the serene and quiet atmosphere. Bordered by beautiful limestone formations, this beach hosts a few luxury resorts, emphasizing its position as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
  • Pasir Tengkorak is one of the lesser-known beaches in the north-west of the island. With jungle reaching almost until the shoreline, this beach is a perfect stop to enjoy your tropical getaway.
