Used as a main trading port since the 7th century, Hoi An was a prominent stop for most trading routes up until the 16th century. It is due to its importance as a trading route that you can see some international influence in Hoi An’s architecture, some of it dating back as far as the 15th century. Today, Hoi An is a popular stop for tourists in Vietnam for its culture, heritage, and the largely untouched nature of the city.
