Havana Cuba, Western Cuba

With a rich culture and a captivating history woven into every street, this Cuban capital city has long been in the spotlight as a bucket-list destination. Havana is a constantly evolving city that is home to people as bright as its buildings. Founded in the 16th century by the Spanish, Havana sprung quickly to life due to its strategic positioning along the bay.

Throughout the centuries, Havana passed through colonial hand after colonial hand. With a boom of wealth, its architecture was built and sustained, but this led to an explosion of movement that resulted in a dramatic increase in crimes and prostitution. Then a new socialist regime moved in, cleaned up the city, and then took it hostage. Since the 1960’s revolutions, and the mass exodus of the wealthy, Havana has been slowly picking up the pieces and restoring itself into the vibrant hub it once was.

Today, a lot of the breathtaking architecture that was saved during the revolts such as the Catedral de San Cristóbal de la Habana, has been restored. And with a growing art scene, the revitalization of this colorful city has made large strides. Visitors can find a lot of historic districts with their own distinctive vibes like the dreamy Plaza Vieja, and streets filled with beautifully preserved 1950’s cars. With a rising tourism industry, Havana is quickly becoming a city of its own, one filled with rich cultural pride and plenty of entertainment for visitors.
